Rift Valley Water Services Board - Procurement of Consultancy Services for Itare Dam Water Supply Project

INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The Government of the Republic of Kenya identified the proposed Itare Dam as on one of the Vision 2030 flagship projects and has therefore prioritized its implementation.

The main objective of the project is to improve water supply and sanitation services in Nakuru Town and parts of the neighboring areas of Rongai, Molo, Elburgon and Kuresoi within the service area of the Rift Valley Water Service Board (RVWSB).

The proposed developments may include:-

  • Construction of Itare dam
  • Construction of Bulk Transfer Tunnel
  • Construction of Bulk transfer Pipelines
  • Construction of Treatment Works
  • Construction of Bulk Distribution Mains and Reservoirs
  • Development of sanitation facilities

RVWSB now requires a Consultant who will, inter alia, be required to:

  • Update the Feasibility studies
    Undertake Detailed Designs and prepare Tender documents for the implementation of the project
  • carry out Environmental Impact assessments (EIA)
  • Coordinate various activities among the stakeholders towards successful development of the project Rift Valley Water Services Board therefore invites eligible consulting firms to express their interest in providing the above mentioned consultancy services.

Interested consultants must provide information indicating their experience and professional capability to perform the services. Such information should include a relevant brochure, description of similar assignments executed, availability of appropriate skills among staff, evidence of company registration and tax compliance, and financial and technical resources of the firm.

Expression of interest must be submitted in writing to the address below, preferably in three copies, on or before 10.00AM (local time) on September 12th 2011.

Following evaluation of the Expression of Interest, shortlisted tenderers will be invited to participate in a formal tender in which they will be required to submit detailed technical and financial proposals in a format to be provided.

Inter-Diocesan Properties Ltd Prequalification of Building Contractors

The Inter-Diocesan Properties Ltd. Together with IDCCS Ltd, both of the Anglican Church of Kenya intends to construct a 40-50 Bed Guest House and Conference Centre at Milimani area in Kisumu Town as Joint Employers.

The Joint-employers therefore invite eligible and qualified individuals or joint venture firms with proven experience in similar undertakings and duly registered in the relevant category and institutions to submit their proposals for prequalification to undertake the construction of the "Proposed Bishop Okullu Guest House and Conference Centre in Kisumu Town".

Interested bidders must meet the following minimum criteria:-

A. Building and Civil Works.

I. Ministry of Public Works Category D/ or

II. Average Annual Works turnover of Kshs.75 million for the last 3 years and

III. Proof of liquidity of Kshs. 5 million and above in cash, redeemable securities or credit line(s)

IV. Fixed Assets of Kshs. 20 million and above.

B. Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Structured Cabling, Interior Decoration and other Specialized Works.

I. Ministry of Public Works/ Energy/ Water category E and above/or.

II. Average Annual turnover of Kshs. 15 million and above for the last 3 years.

III. Proof of liquidity of Kshs.1,000,000 and above in cash, redeemable securities and/or credit line(s).

IV. Fixed Assets of Kshs. 4 million and above.

The Postal Corporation of Kenya is charged with the social obligation of providing affordable postal services. In its endeavor to achieve this obligation efficiently and effectively, and in order to serve our customers better, the Corporation intends to construct a new General Post Office in Kisumu City.

INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

This Invitation for Expression of Interest follows the General Procurement Notice for this project, which appeared in Development Business Issue No. 694 dated 16 January 2007.

The Permanent Secretariat of the Northern Corridor Transit Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) has received a Grant in different currencies from the African Development Bank Group towards the cost of financing some regional activities under the East Africa Trade and Transport Facilitation Project.

The Institutional Support Grant from the African Development Bank Group is to provide assistance to the NCTTCA to strengthen its role in planning, harmonization, and coordination to facilitate transit transport along the Northern Corridor.

As a component of activities financed under the project, the NCTTCA intends to recruit a firm to undertake the following task:

Feasibility study and preliminary engineering design for three (3) one-stop-border post facilities along the Northern Corridor i.e.Mpondwe/Kasindi (Uganda- D R Congo border), Gisenyi/Goma (Rwanda - D R Congo border) and Akanyaru (Rwanda -
Burundi border).

The Expression of Interest (EOI) should be submitted in writing and should contain the company profile, experience in similar projects, financial status, resources (personnel/equipment/facilities) and should be clearly marked "Expression of Interest" - Feasibility study and preliminary engineering design for three one-stop-border post facilities along the Northern Corridor.

This request for Expression of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 715 of November 2007.

The Government of Kenya (GOK) has received a Credit from the IDA toward the cost of Water and Sanitation Service Improvement Project (WaSSIP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit to cover eligible payments under the contract for the Consultancy Services for detailed design, preparation of bidding documents and supervision of the refurbishment of offices for the Water Appeals Board (WAB).

Athi Water Services Board is the implementing agency for this activity on behalf of WAB.

The WAB is a national state corporation created under the Water Act 2002 and it intends to operationalise regional offices in Kakamega, Nyeri, Embu and Nakuru Municipalities; Mombasa and Kisumu Cities.

The services required will include:
  • Preparation of detailed internal design of partitioning requirements and furniture with a view to optimize the space available and come up with modern offices;
  • Preparation of bidding documents consisting of:- Design drawings; Specifications; Bill of Quantities; and Confidential Cost Estimate;
  • To provide.services in the role of the Engineer's Representative in the supervision of the construction works and
  • To supervise, in accordance with the conditions of contract, specifications and drawings, works carried out by the selected contractor.
The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with the designs, specifications and works contract documents while at all time ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and timely completion.

During the supervision, the consultant will provide the Client with regular status reports and other reports as per the Terms of Reference, together with all related necessary technical assistance and professional advice to the Client related to supervision of the construction of the said works.

The assignment is expected to take a period of 8 months.

The Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Housing intends to complete residential apartments under the Civil Servants Housing Scheme Fund.
