RE: Request for Expression of Interest for Provision of Services to Acquire Title Documents for Various Parcels of KARI'S Land

Ref: KARI/HQTS/14/08-09

1. Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (hereinafter variously referred to as KARI or the Institute) undertakes agricultural research in all agro-ecological zones countrywide. For the purpose of research, KARI owns parcels of land in various parts of the country. The Institute intends to obtain titles for all its parcels of land, some of which are un-surveyed.

2. The Institute intends to establish a pool of registered and authorized service providers who would be instructed to obtain titles for given parcels of KARI Land. KARI now invites Expression of Interest from qualified firms for processing and acquisition of titles to its parcels of land.

3. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services by submitting:
(a) Brochure on detailed firm's profile.
(b) Description of similar assignments undertaken in the last five years
(c) Availability of appropriate skills among its staff including land surveyors.
(d) Copies of the firm's audited financial accounts for the past five years
(e) Copies of the Business Registration, VAT, PIN and current KRA compliance certificates.
(f) Copy of the current professional practicing certificates of the relevant staff where applicable.

Only firms with demonstrated experience and excellent track records in similar assignments will be considered for inclusion into the pool.

5. KARI will prepare shortlist of firms to whom Requests for Proposals (RFP) for particular parcels will later be distributed.

Completed Expression of Interest documents in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked "KARI Expression of Interest: Acquisition of Title Documents for various Parcels of Land" Tender No KARI/HQTS/14/08-09 must be delivered to the address below on or before 17th March, 2009 at 10.00 a.m. and be deposited in the Tender Box located at the main entrance of KARI Headquarters building. For bulky documents that cannot go through the slot of the Tender Box, they should be delivered to Room 151 on the ground floor of KARI Headquarters Building Western Wing on or before 17th March, 2009 at 10.00 a.m.

Late applications will be rejected.

The Kenya Forest Service invites sealed tenders from eligible bidders to Supply, Install and Commission a Security Software.

The applicants will need to demonstrate competence in the provision of this service.

Interested applicants should submit their response together with the capacity statement detailing:
  1. Proof of legal status including provision of certified copies of registration and incorporation
  2. Statement of experience
  3. Compliance certificates (PIN No., Value Added Tax registration and Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority)
  4. Company profile and litigation history.
  5. At least three referees
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the tender documents from the Head of Supply Chain Management Office, Kenya Forest Service Headquarters, Karura- Off Kiambu Road, during the office working hours;
Monday through Friday, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh.5 000 per set of documents in cash or in Bankers cheque payable to the Director, Kenya Forest Service.
Bid security bond for 2% of the purchase value valid for 90 days from a reputable Bank should be submitted with the complete tender documents.

Completed bid documents must be received by the Service at the address below not later than 18.03.09 in plain sealed envelopes marked as follows;

The documents should be placed in the tender box situated on Ground floor reception area of KFS, Headquarters Karura off Kiambu Road so as to be received on/or before 18.03.09 at 12.00 noon. Tenders submitted later than the indicated closing date and time shall automatically be disqualified.

Tender Opening will take place immediately on the same date in the same building in the Main Boardroom. Tenderers or their representatives who wish to attend are invited to witness the opening.

Kenya Forest Service reserves the right to accept or reject any or all the tenders either in whole or in part and is not bound to give reasons thereof.
