Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) For Civil Society Interventions in the Democratic Governance Sector
(Governance, Human Rights. Justice, Law and Order and Reform Oriented Capacity Building Processes)


THEME: Enhancing civil society organizations participation in Democratic Governance reforms in the areas of Governance, Human rights; Justice; Law and order and reform-oriented capacity building.

1. The Civil Society Democratic Governance (CSDG) Facility is a multi-donor fund, aimed at enhancing Civil Society Organizations' engagement in democratic governance and the reform agenda in Kenya. Civil Society Organizations include: Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs); Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), Academia and Research Institutions)

2. The CSDG Facility, which is managed by UNDP, is funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA); the Royal Norwegian Embassy (Norway) and UNDP

3. The Facility channels funds to CSO through successive calls for proposals. The current call for proposals aims at enhancing civil society organizations participation in Democratic Governance reforms in the areas of Governance, Human rights; Justice; Law and order and Reforms oriented capacity building.

4. The call for proposals is open to local Civil Society Organizations duly registered in Kenya.

5. Funding levels

The call for proposals has two levels of funding per organization:

Level 1- Core funding with funding of between USD. 100, 000 to USD 200,000 per year for three years

Level 2- Project based funding with funding of between USD 50,000 to USD. 100,000 per year for three years

6. The Facility invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified local Civil Society Organizations from all over the Country. Organizations from rural and remote areas of the Country are encouraged to apply.

7. The Expression Of Interest (EOI) should be completed in the requisite format contained in the document "Guidelines for the Submission of Expressions of Interests and Proposals" which may be accessed at the UNDP KENYA website www.ke.undp.org.

8. Organizations with no access to e-mail may request for hard copies of the guidelines and forms for application from the Facility's Programme Management Unit (PMU) by sending an e-mail to the following e-mail address: csdg@undp.org or on by contacting the PMU on Tel. (020) 341397

9. Applicants must indicate clearly on the sealed envelope whether they are applying for core funding or project funding

10. ALL Expressions of Interests (EOI) must be received in a sealed envelope either by registered mail, courier service or by hand-delivery to the address below: Postal address:

11. The deadline for the call for Expressions of Interests (EOI) is 20th February, 2009 at 12.00 noon Kenyan time
