Proposed Refurbishment of 5th Floor Utalii House Northern Wing- Nairobi

The Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Tourism invites tenders from registered Contractors in Categories 'C' & 'D' General Building works for the following works:

1. Proposed Refurbishment of 5th Floor Utalii House Northern Wing- Nairobi
Contractors must be registered as above and to pay a non-refundable fee of Kshs.3,000. Bid Bond for the works will be Kshs.75,000.00

Interested Contractors who appear in the current Building Contractor's Register (Proof of Registration required) may obtain tender documents from Principal Procurement Officer, Ministry of Tourism, Utalii House in person, or against written application. The non-refundable fee is to be paid in cash at the Cash Office before 4.00 pm on normal working days or in Banker's Cheque payable to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Nairobi

Interested bidders should note that only those meeting the criteria indicated below as a minimum, supported by relevant documents at submission will be considered for further evaluation.

1. Proof of works of similar magnitude and complexity undertaken in the last five
years

2. The Bid Bond must be in form of Bank Guarantee from a reputable bank

3. Adequate equipment and key personnel for the specified types of works

4. Sound financial standing and adequate access to bank credit line.

5. Litigation History of the Company (both court and arbitration cases).

6. Confidential Business Questionnaire

7. Copy of P.I.N Certificate

8. Tax compliance Certificate

Further, tenders from the following tenderers shall be treated as NON- RESPONSIVE and therefore subject to automatic disqualification:

a) A tender from a tenderer whose on-going project(s) is/are behind schedule, and without any approved extension of time

b) A tender from a tenderer who has been served with a default notice on on-going project (s)

c) A tender from a tenderer with on-going projects exceeding four (4) in number, regardless of the total value of the outstanding works.

Tenders in plain sealed envelopes, marked tender number, on the right hand side corner and bearing no indication of the tenderer should be addressed to:

or be placed in the tender box on 6th floor at the Utalii House, Nairobi, or sent by post so as to reach the above address not later than Tuesday 7th April, 2009 at 10.00 am.

Submitted bids will be opened publicly in the Conference Room on 5th Floor, Utalii House, soon after the above stated closing date and time in the presence of the tenderers or their representatives who choose to attend.

Late bids will be returned unopened.

Prices quoted must remain valid for Ninety (90) days from the opening date of the tender.

The Bid Security, which must be from an established bank, shall be valid upto 5th August, 2009 (120 days from date of tender opening)

The Government reserves the right to reject any tender without giving reasons for the rejection and does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
