1) The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Northern Corridor Transport Improvement Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultancy services. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is also considering co-financing this project including the consultancy services.
The consultancy services include tender documentation and provision of Construction Management and Supervision Services for the following Construction work which is to be carried out in two (2) separate works contracts as follows:
Works Contract No.1- Construction of Unit 4 of the Passenger Terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) comprising of:
- a new terminal building - three-storey reinforced concrete frame and slabs with glazed curtain walling and concrete block walls of floor area 17,575 sq.m,
- parking garage - four-storey reinforced concrete frame and slabs with concrete block walls of floor 60,566 sq.m.and
- grade parking - about 10,000 sq.m, including storm water drainage, foul drainage, landscaping, planting and grassing and fencing.
Works Contract No. 2-Alteration and expansion to the existing terminal ring and arrival building with substantial rehabilitation works in an operational airport. The construction will include new construction of floor area of about 23,200 sq.m and renovation of floor area of about 26,600sq.m.
The implementation period for this Works Contract is estimated to be 28 months plus 12 months defects liability period.
The implementation period of the two Works Contracts include a time lag of 12 months between commencement of Contract No.1 and Contract No. 2.
The Kenya Airports Authority now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the consultancy services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc).
Only those firms that satisfy the following minimum requirement shall be considered as potential consultants:
Successfully completed the design and supervision of construction of at least two (2) international passenger terminals in the last five (5) years each with capacity to handle more than 9 million passengers per annum and provide relevant letters of reference from the said airports;
Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
2. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrower (May 2004, Revised October 2006).
3. Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below from 0800 to 1700 Hours from Monday to Friday excluding lunch hour (1300 to 1400 Mrs) and public holidays.
