Rehabilitation of Water Pans in Mandera District

CARE International in Kenya, under its Regional Resilience Enhancement Against Drought Programme (RREAD) in Elwak with funding from European Commission for Humanitarian Organization (ECHO), seeks tender bids from interested Contractors for the rehabilitation of the following water pans in Mandera District:

Elele pan in Wargadud Division of Mandera Central District Elram pan in Kotulo Division of Mandera Central District Nyataliyo pan in Kotulo Division of Mandera Central District Ardhahalo pan inTakaba Division of Mandera West District

The implementation of the water pan rehabilitation works shall address specific service areas such as di-silting of pans and construction of safe water abstraction systems.

Interested qualified contractors will be required to submit a cover letter and a Statement of Qualifications.

The Statement of Qualifications should provide information to demonstrate;

(i) Expert qualifications, technical and managerial capabilities suitable in implementation of the required works,

(ii) Availability and number of earth moving machines/ plants for the implementation of the required works.

Interested contractors should also submit a copy of their Certificate of Registration, a copy PIN certificate and copies of VAT registration certificates and details of similar works undertaken in the last 5 years.

Other details should include company profile, and copies of audited and financial statements.

Interested contractors are required to provide services as outlined in the tender bid documents which should be collected the Receptionist at CARE International in Kenya offices situated on Mucai Road Off Ngong Road.

The contractor is to deliver the services to the specific CARE Kenya's project sites as noted above. The deliveries must be within the contractual timeframe and delivery should occur prior to 4 p.m. on business day.

CARE holds proper ethical conduct in the highest regard. If it is discovered that corrupt or unethical practices have been undertaken by the contractor - or attempted, the contractor will be disqualified from any further work with CARE. Note that CARE periodically shares this type of information with other non-governmental organizations.

CARE will not provide support of any kind to a person or entity that is known to advocate terrorism or engages in terrorist activities. CARE will comply with all applicable laws and regulations that address terrorism and terrorist activity.

Interested qualified contractors with the capability to rehabilitate water pans, are requested to provide a sealed quotation in a business envelope addressed to CARE International in Kenya RO. Box 43864 - GPO 00100, Nairobi and clearly marked "REHABILITATION OF RREAD PROGRAM WATER PANS" on the outside of the envelope.

The sealed bid is to be provided to the Receptionist by January 30, 2009 at CARE Kenya's Nairobi office along Mucai Road Off Ngong Road. Upon receipt of the sealed bid, the Receptionist will place the bid in the "Sealed Bid Box" and will provide the vendor with a bid receipt.
