Proposed Refurbishment Of Existing Bio-chemical Laboratories ON PLOT NO. LJt NO/209/12394 KAPITI ROAD, NAIROBI

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) intends to construct and refurbish the currently existing laboratories into a modern facility which will cater for their growing operations. The site for the project is on plot LR No. 209/ 2394 on Popo Road off Mombasa Road, Nairobi Head Office.

The minimum requirements for prospective contractors are :

1) BUILDING (MAIN) CONTRACTOR: TENDER NO. KEBS/T054/08/09

a) Be registered in Category B and above by the ministry of Roads and Public Works for Building contractors.

b) Must have completed at least one project costing over Kshs. 150 million in the last five years.

c) Annual turnover of Kshs. 150 million and above in each year for the last 3 years.

d) Must provide bid security in the form of a bank guarantee for Kshs. 1.5 million from a reputable bank.

e) Show ability to finance the project to the tune of Kshs. 20 million before monthly payments by the client.

2) ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS: TENDER NO. T055/08/09

a) Be registered in Category C and above by the ministry of Roads and Public Works for Building contractors.

b) Must have completed at least one project costing over Kshs. 15 million in the last five years.

c) Must provide bid security in the form of a bank guarantee for Kshs. 1.5 million from a reputable bank.

3) MECHANICAL INSTALLATIONS: TENDER NO. T056/08/09

a) Be registered in Category C and above by the ministry of Roads and Public Works for Building contractors.

b) Must have completed at least one project costing over Kshs. 15 million in the last five years.

c) Must provide bid security in the form of a bank guarantee for Kshs. 1.5 million from a reputable bank.

4) AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATIONS: TENDER NO. T057/08/09

a) Be registered in Category C and above by the ministry of Roads and Public Works for Building contractors.

b) Must have completed at least one project costing over Kshs. 10 million in the last five years.

c) Must provide bid security in the form of a bank guarantee for Kshs. 1.5 million from a reputable bank.

Interested contractors who meet the above minimum criteria may obtain the tender document from KEBS Centre Nairobi, Procurement Office between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on working days upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh. 5000 per set, payable at the cash office in cash or bankers cheque.

Completed tender documents in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked " KEBS/T054-57/2008/2009- PROPOSED REFURBISHMENT OF EXISTING BIO-CHEMICAL LABORATORIES ON PLOT NO. LR NO/209/12394 KAPITI ROAD, NAIROBI Should be addressed and delivered to:

Or be deposited in the Tender Box at the Main Reception marked "TENDER BOX" so as be received on or before 10.00 a.m. (East Africa Time) on 5th February, 2009.

Tender opening will be carried out immediately thereafter in KEBS Centre Conference Room, Adm. Block, Ground Floor.

Tenderers or their representatives are free to attend the tender opening.

KEBS is not bound to accept the lowest or any tender or give reasons for its decisions.
