INVITATION FOR TENDERS

1. This Invitation for Tenders follows the General ProcurementNotice for this Project which appeared in the daily News of Monday July 28th ,2008 issue no. 00013455, Business Times of Friday August 01st ,2008 and Mwananchi of Wednesday July 30th 2008, ISSN 0856-7573 INa 02969.

2. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health and Social welfare has set aside funds for the Procurement of Pharmaceuticals during the financial year 2008/09 for Referral, regional and District government Hospitals. It is intended that part of the proceeds of the fund will be used to cover eligible payment under the contract for the supply of Pharmaceuticals under contract No.IE-009/2008/09/HQ/ G/10

3. The Medical Stores Department Tender Board on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare now invites sealed tenders from eligible Suppliers for supply of Pharmaceuticals to Medical Stores Department.

4. Tendering will be conducted through the National Competitive Tendering procedures specified in the Procurement (Goods, Works, Non Consultancy Service and Disposal of Public Assets by Tender) Regulations, 2005 - Government Notice No. 9 7 and is open to all Tenderers as defined in the Regulations

5. Interested eligible Tenderers may obtain further information from and inspect the Tendering Documents at the office of the Secretary, Medical Stores Department Tender Board, Off Nyerere Road, Keko Mwanga, P.O.Box 9081 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 8.00 a.m to 3.30 p.m on Mondays to Fridays inclusive except on public holidays. Alternatively the interested tenderers may view the tender document in the Medical Stores Department website www.msd.or.tz) and PPRA website

6. A complete set of Tendering Document(s) in English and additional sets may be purchased by interested Tenderers on the submission of a written application to the address given under paragraph 4 above and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of US$ 200.00 (United States Dollars Two Hundred Only) from Wednesday 21st January, 2009. Payment should either be by Cash, or payable to Director General; Medical Stores Department, P. O. Box 9081, Dar-es-Salaam.Tanzania.

7. All Tenders must be accompanied by a Tender security not less 2.5% of tender price in tender currency.

8. All tenders in one original plus one copy, properly filled in, and enclosed in plain envelopes must be delivered to the address below at or before 09.00 hours local time on Friday 20th February, 2009. Tenders will be opened promptly in public and in the presence of Tenderers' representatives who choose to attend in the opening at the Medical Stores Department Board Room, Off Nyerere Road, Keko Mwanga, P.O.Box 9081 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

9. Late tenders, portion of Tenders, Electronic Tenders, Tenders not received Tender not opened in and not readout in public at the tender open ceremony shall not be accepted for evaluation irrespective of circumstances.
